The Backgammon Wrap Up

Backgammon is a board game where two players compete by rolling dice and advancing checkers off the board. The first player to bear off all 15 of their checkers is the winner. There are three possible conclusions to a regular game. These are a single game finish, a gammon or double game finish, and a backgammon or triple game finish. So, how do they differ from one another?

First of all, these game conclusions are used in matches where players score points by winning a series of games in the match. Score points are determined by multiplying the doubling cube value and the type of completed game played. A doubling cube that's neutral (when it's neither owned nor offered in the course of the game) is equivalent to one point. If turned, the doubling cube may have a two, four, eight, 16, 32, or 64 denominations. But most of the time, it only gets turned to four from a redouble in a game.

A single game finish is a completed game where the loser has at least one checker off the board. The single game winner score points equal to the value of the doubling cube only or the doubling cube value multiplied by one.

The other two completed games afford a special bonus to the winner. The gammon and backgammon winners score points that are double and triple the value of the doubling cube, respectively.

The gammon is also known as a double game because it counts twice a single game win. The condition for this finish is that all 15 of the loser's checkers are still on any of the 24 points on the board.

The backgammon game finish is quite brilliant. What makes it so is that the loser's entire checkers are still on the board with at least one on the bar or on the winner's inner or home board. This completed game is also called a triple game because the winner is awarded the doubling cube value times three.

A backgammon game can wrap up with a single game, double game (a.k.a. gammon) or a triple game (a.k.a. backgammon) finish. Without a doubt, a triple game finish is the ending every board player desires to accomplish. Also, it's the hardest to carry out. More often than not, players will look forward to achieving a double game win or otherwise avoid a double game loss to score points in a match.
